CoConuT TreE


A coconut tree is known as the tree of a hundred uses. The hot and wet climate in Malaysia is suitable for the growth of the coconut tree. Besides that, it thrives well in sandy ares. Nowadays, people use different parts of the coconut tree in their daily lives.

The leaves of the coconut tree are used for making brooms and as a cover for roof tops of houses in villages. Long ago, leaves were used to shade from sun and rain. The leaves are also used for weaving Ketupat and mats. The kernel is used for making coconut cream which is used in baking and cooking pastries, cakes and also curries..The coconut cream tastes delicious and appetizing when added to a drink like cendol.

The shell of the coconut fruit is used for making coin box. Besides that, it is used for making ladles and decorative items for tourist to buy. Next is the coconut husk. It is made into ropes because it is strong and durable. People use coconut husk to make door mats because they can last for a long period. The husk is also used for making brushes for washing.

In the villages, people use coconut trunks for making bridges. Besides that, the trunks be used to make fences, stools and stilts for houses. Trunks of the coconut tree can be make into rafts for transport on water. Lastly, the coconut water makes a very refreshing drink which is normally served chilled. It is also an anti-oxidant drink which good for health.
